An old-school North Fork motel could get a modern-day luxury overhaul, and one of its owners isn’t happy.

Developer Thunderbowl Capital is pushing for the upgrades after buying a 50 percent stake in the Silver Sands Motel in Greenport, according to the New York Post. The motel at 1400 Silvermere Road opened in 1957.

Terry Keefe, who owns the other half with his mother, said Thunderbowl is pressuring his family to turn the affordable motel into a high-end resort with higher room rates. The firm acquired its stake from Terry’s aunt, Darline Jurzenia, who said the business was losing money and in need of repairs, according to the report.

“We never charged more than $200 for a night,” Terry Keefe said. “This is old North Fork. People come to the waterfront property to relax and go to the beach.”

He also alleged Thunderbowl improperly used information to target his aunt after a deal fell through to buy his own share. Thunderbowl’s Alexander Perros denied that claim, the report noted.
