A prominent New York City political operative is parting with his Mill Basin mansion.

Frank Carone, a consultant who served as chief of staff for Mayor Eric Adams, and his wife Diana are looking for a buyer for their home at 2626 National Drive, asking $6.9 million.

It’s a tall order for the neighborhood, but wouldn’t be the priciest sale on the Belt Parkway-facing street. A three-story home at 2458 National Drive — once owned by a mob-connected car dealership magnate — sold in 2021 for $7.2 million

The Carones purchased the waterfront property for $1.4 million in 2003, according to public records. They demolished the home initially on the site to construct their 9,000-square-foot abode, which was completed around 2006.

Now empty nesters, Carone said the couple plans to split time between Boca Raton, where their daughter lives, and their Midtown co-op. The pair bought the upper-floor apartment at 45 Sutton Place South in 2022 for $2.2 million

“It’ll be a sad day when we sell it,” Carone said. “But life goes on and things change.”

The sprawling seven-bedroom pad also features a wine cellar, primary bedroom balcony, formal great room with a fireplace and chef’s kitchen. It has a dual-level backyard with a saltwater pool, cabana and wood-burning pizza oven.

The couple listed the property in November, typically a slower month for transactions, said listing broker Anthony Sciortino of Brooklyn 4U Realty.

“There were two things against [the home] in November: we were heading into the winter months plus interest rates were high,” Sciortino said.

He added that he expects interest in the home to ramp up in the coming months, as the spring usually provides a boost to market activity.
