Chinese development firm Beijing Vantone Real Estate plans to lease between 400,000 to 500,000 square feet for what would be the largest lease to date in the proposed Freedom Tower. A Beijing Vantone spokeswoman told a Chinese newspaper this week that the private firm plans to build a “Chinese Business Center” in the tower, subleasing the center’s office space to Chinese companies that carry out overseas expansion and to U.S. companies exploring opportunities in China. The spokeswoman said, however, that no deal had been struck yet. Gov. George Pataki in late September had mentioned Beijing Vantone’s possible lease. more [Shanghai Daily]
