“Infrastructure 2007: A Global Perspective,” a report released by the Urban Land Institute and Ernst & Young LLP, says that tragedies like the levees failing in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina will continue to occur unless more money is put into rehabilitating infrastructure across the United States. The study identified airports, tunnels, roads and bridges in need of serious overhauls, including the Tappan Zee Bridge, which could cost as much as $14.5 billion to bring into good working condition. The report called for more public-private partnerships for preserving infrastructure. more [WSJ]
