St. Vincent’s Hospital says an alternative expansion plan proposed by neighborhood groups is not feasible because it would require building a tunnel under Seventh Avenue. Instead of a new building that would reach 329 feet, the community plan called for two smaller buildings no taller than 190 feet. On Monday, a Community Board 2 meeting will be held to discuss the hospital’s plans to build 365 hospital beds, 450 housing units, 19 townhouses, and 15,000 square feet of retail. A staffer from the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission will attend to discuss requirements for building in the Greenwich Village Historic District.
