Bloomberg speaks out against DOB

In a public statement Monday about the city’s construction accidents and the Department of Buildings’ performance, Mayor Bloomberg directly criticized buildings commissioner Patricia Lancaster, whom he has typically defended throughout recent accusations that the March 15 crane accident should have been prevented by the agency. Bloomberg pointed out that their have been seven construction deaths so far this year, compared to 12 total in 2007.
