Rachael Ray buys East Village co-op

Food Network chef Rachael Ray and her husband bought their next-door neighbor’s cooperative unit in the East Village for $1.25 million.

Ray and entertainment attorney John Cusimano bought the sixth-floor apartment at 49 East 12th Street, adjacent to their own unit, last week, according to city records published today.

The new unit, a one-bedroom triplex facing Broadway with about 700 square feet indoors, comes with an approximately 10-foot by 8-foot Roof Terrace, a source familiar with the building said.

The six-story prewar elevator building was converted to coops in the 1970s.

Ray stars in several shows, including 30 Minute Meals and Rachael Ray. She has authored several cookbooks and in 2005 began publishing the magazine Everyday With Rachael Ray. The apartment is not too far from her South Midtown offices at 16 East 34th Street.

In June, Ray purchased a three-bedroom house in Southampton for just under $3 million.
