Midtown building sells for $36M

Geo. A. Gottlieb & Co. sold a nine-story commercial building in Midtown for $36 million to Philips International. The 72,500-square-foot building at 104 East 40th Street was built in 1915. Gottlieb is led by the father-son team of Milton and Peter Gottlieb. Philips International is a New York-based firm with more than 200 holdings in the Northeast, Florida and Texas. In January, Philips flipped a Fifth Avenue building for $38 million, after buying it for $26.5 million in July of last year. Massey Knakal handled the sale of the East 40th Street property. TRD
