Three French teams won a contest for the top ideas for Design Trust for Public Space’s “Reinventing Grand Army Plaza.” The design “Please Wake Me Up!” moves traffic to the center of The Plaza, and includes a permanent greenmarket. That design was tied for first place with “Canopy,” which has traffic running north-south on one road instead of in a circle. “A Center for Brooklyn,” created by Brooklynites, won third place. The contest, which received over 200 submissions, was a competition to give the Department of Transportation ideas on ways to construct the Park Slope plaza.
