NY real estate loan provider goes bankrupt

Ciena Capital, a New York
provider of real estate loans to small and midsized businesses, filed for bankruptcy in Manhattan today. Ciena has between $100 million and $500 million of assets and liabilities, according to the filing. Before January, Ciena was known as Business Loan Express, and its largest unsecured creditor was the U.S. Small Business Association, which has a disputed $1.78 million claim.
