Trade Center to have $1.7B in overruns

The Port Authority is planning to announce tomorrow that the World Trade Center site has overruns of $1.7 billion. The figure is lower than the $3 billion figure suggested in early reports. The $1.7 billion applies to the budget for the
Freedom Tower, transportation hub and PATH terminal, vehicle screening center, memorial, museum, and other elements of the site, originally budgeted to cost about $8.4 billion.
