City and state officials are trying to convince airline JetBlue to move its headquarters to Jamaica, Queens. The airline’s lease at its current headquarters in Forest Hills expires in 2012, and in addition to Jamaica, the company is reportedly considering moving to Orlando or Tampa, Fla. The Greater Jamaica Development Corp. has been working to redevelop downtown Jamaica as an airline business hub for companies that serve nearby John F. Kennedy International Airport, and the area includes a planned 500,000-square-foot office tower. JetBlue employs more than 800 people at its three office locations in the metropolitan area, with the majority working in the Forest Hills building.
