Students respond to Columbia expansion in exhibit
Sixth-graders at PS 161 will present their designs of Manhattanville and West Harlem as a response to Columbia University’s expansion plan in an exhibit called “Manhattanville: On the Cusp of Change.” For the past three years, the students at PS 161 have been studying the history and architecture of Harlem, and documenting changes around their school. Columbia University’s office of government and community affairs arranged field trips for the students, who also interviewed people living and working in the area. The exhibit will be held June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aaron Davis Hall, 138 Convent Avenue.
