A Monday City Council hearing on the demolition of the 26-story former Deutsche Bank Building yielded few details on when and how the project would occur. Building owner David Emil, of the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., waffled when pressed for details, saying, “It’s very hard to say exactly how long it’s going to take to demolish the building.” Emil also said that contractor Bovis Lend Lease hadn’t completed the final demolition plans. Council member Alan Gerson sounded agitated in the hearing, saying: “How could you not have a general sense of whether it will be down at the beginning of 2010, or the end of 2010, or later?” The LMDC had once claimed that the demolition would take six months, but Emil was hesitant to provide a time line.
