Ashkenazy exec Rick Greenberg dies

A senior executive who handled acquisitions with Midtown-based landlord Ashkenazy Acquisitions, Rick Greenberg, died Monday of a heart attack in his Manhattan home, an executive with the firm said. He was 60.

Greenberg, a long-time employee of the company, was a creative dealmaker who contributed to many transactions at the firm, company CFO Joel Suskin said.

“He will be missed,” Suskin said. “He thought outside the box. He was an imaginative thinker.”

Ashkenazy owns more than 13 million square feet of commercial and residential space in the United States, including 650 Madison Avenue, which it purchased with the Carlyle Group in 2008 for $680 million, the company Web site said.

Greenberg was divorced with two daughters and one grandson.
