The New York City-based Orchestra of St. Luke’s new performance hall, a $37 million Hell’s Kitchen classical music center, is nearing completion, according to the Wall Street Journal. The 20,000-square-foot building, set to open in March, is the first permanent home the orchestra has had since it debuted in 1974. The concert hall, inside 450 West 37th Street near 10th Avenue, which is also home to the Baryshnikov Dance Foundation, was paid for through private fundraising, along with a $4.6 million equity infusion made by several financial institutions, including the Goldman Sachs Group’s Urban Investment arm. The concert hall will also serve other orchestra’s including the New York Pops and the American Symphony Orchestra. [WSJ]
