“Baby Jane” duplex back on the market at escalated price

The Upper East Side duplex that Jane Holzer, the socialite and art collector best known as Andy Warhol’s “Baby Jane,” sold for $14.1 million during the recession is coming back on the market for $23.5 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, in a sign that at least some people are confident about a high-end Manhattan market comeback. Holzer, who sold the five-bedroom apartment at 23 East 74th Street’s the Volney in Feburary 2009, had originally asked $22.5 million when she listed it in June 2008. She eventually cut the asking price to $16.9 million before selling it at a 37 percent discount from the original to apparel mogul Jason Rabin and his wife, Nicole, who paid in cash. Now, the Rabins are moving to Hong Kong, and they’ve enlisted a Brown Harris Stevens team of Anne and Amanda Young and Jarrod Randolph to help market the spread. [WSJ]
