NY1 institution Pat Kiernan better start paying closer attention to the station’s outerborough traffic reports. The beloved anchor just bought a newly renovated townhouse in Williamsburg, property records show. Kiernan, who currently lives on the Upper West Side, landed the three-story, 20-foot-wide townhouse, at 135 Bedford Avenue, for $2.03 million, a tad under the $2.1 million price listing agents Kris Sylvester and Sarah Williams of Halstead Property were asking.
The 2,600-square-foot home has four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in its 2,600 square feet. It also has a professional chef’s kitchen, a home office and a media room, according to the listing. Its previous owner, listed as Whitney Jiranek, purchased the property for $1.1 million in 2005 before commissioning the complete renovation.
Kiernan, and wife Dawn, appear to be keeping their options open with the purchase, which closed April 9. If his news anchor career comes to a close, he can try his hand at development on the site: it’s already approved for an additional 1,300 square feet of construction.
Kiernan confirmed the purchase and said he did not use a buyer’s broker, but declined to divulge his plans for the home. He’s been in the news lately — and not just on NY1 — for reportedly vying for Regis Philbin’s old seat on the show now known as “Live! With Kelly.” He’s slated to anchor the show next Monday and Tuesday.
Sylvester and Williams, who prepared the video below, could not immediately be reached for comment.
