Ebay joins tech explosion in Midtown South

Online auction company Ebay has joined the many technology companies inking leases in Midtown South, Crain’s reported. The company plans to open a “technology center” where workers will develop new programs “critical to the Ebay experience,” according to the company’s blog. They expect to have 200 employees in the center within two years.

The new hub will be located at 625 Sixth Avenue, between 18th and 19th streets, Crain’s said.

Chris Dixon, the entrepreneur behind Hunch, a website used to track Internet users choices, which was acquired by eBay last year, will run the new center. [Crain’s]
