Empire City Casino races to finish $45M expansion

In an effort to compete with the Aqueduct Raceway racino in Queens that opened in October, the Empire City Casino in Yonkers has recruited food and entertainment talent to add to its expansion, Crain’s reported. The entire expansion project totals $45 million.

The project includes adding 66,000 square feet to the property. Roughly half of the new square footage will house restaurants, two of which will be operated by two Michelin-starred chefs. The names of the chefs were undisclosed, but a spokesperson told Crain’s that the two eateries will open at the end of summer. Plans for the remainder of the space were not mentioned.

In addition, there will be a new front entrance design and a Sunday concert series held at a new outdoor stage. The Marshall Tucker Band and Frankie Avalon will perform there this summer. [Crain’s]
