At South Williamsburg’s Gretsch, penthouse listed for $4.75M
Sale could mark neighborhood's most expensive apartment trade this year
The top-floor penthouse condominium at the Gretsch in South Williamsburg has hit the market asking $4.75 million, listing brokers confirmed to The Real Deal. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath spread has views “from the Verrazano to the George Washington Bridge,” said Pablo Cuevas, the Prudential Douglas Elliman broker listing the penthouse with his colleague Michal Kuras.
The current owners bought the unit in 2005, paying $2.95 million for it, according to city records. Cuevas said the owners had decided to downsize but “were in no rush,” to sell the apartment. If the apartment sells for the asking price, it will be the priciest sale ever in the building, Cuevas said. It would also be the most expensive Williamsburg apartment to trade this year, according to figures from Propertyshark.com.
The Gretsch, a re-purposed factory building at 60 Broadway, near Wythe Street, was once billed by Curbed as “the condo conversion that made South Williamsburg safe for luxury lofts,” due to its pioneering southerly location in the trendy nabe, one block below the Williamsburg bridge.
Last year the second priciest sale in Williamsburg was for one of the Gretsch’s other two penthouses, which sold for $2.5 million.
The actor Josh Hartnett previously lived in the Gretsch, and his condo there was for rent for $9,000 a month at one point, according to previous reports.
