Alexander McQueen, the eponymous label of the deceased fashion mogul and a pioneer among Meatpacking District retailers, plans to decamp to 747 Madison Avenue, the New York Post reported. The designer will lease a double-height 3,300-square-foot space owned by Jeff Sutton, paying $1,300 per square foot during the 15-year lease.
Fashion label Escada previously took up a portion of the retail space. Before that, Valentino occupied the space during the construction of its 717 Fifth Avenue store, and fashioned the double-height ceilings at the north end after taking over the apartment above.
Sutton purchased the retail co-op last year for $66.25 million. Over the summer, he acquired the unit above the southern portion of the store for $2.6 million. [Post] —Zachary Kussin
