The new QueensWay, a High Line-esque 3.5-mile linear park along an old stretch of Long Island Railroad track, is turning to social media to get feedback on project design from the digital communities.

The architects will employ Twitter and Facebook in an effort to conduct a study that gleans opinions on the plan.

“We know that lots of people will be interested in having a dialogue so we want to create a forum for that,” said Adam Lubinsky from WXY architecture + urban design, which will conduct the study alongside dlandstudio. “We want [social media] to be an opportunity for people who can’t go to meetings.”

A QueensWay-specific interactive site will also be accessible via the Friends of QueensWay page, and it will feature project information alongside questions aimed at culling feedback.

The cost of construction, erosion levels and structural integrity of the elevated railway line will also be examined in the project analysis. [DNAinfo]Julie Strickland
