South African business mogul Adrian Gore leases snazzy apartment for $40K a month

Richard Plepler, CEO of HBO, signed a lease to rent a 2,915-square-foot condominium at Macklowe Properties’ 737 Park Avenue for $40,000 a month. The unit belongs to South African multimillionaire Adrian Gore, who picked it up for $11.45 million, The Real Deal reported in January.

The three-bedroom apartment is a combination of two units. It features a powder room, heated flooring in the master bedroom, and a Varenna eat-in kitchen.

As of 2011, Gore was named the 34th wealthiest person in Africa with a net worth of $280 million, according to Forbes magazine’s annual list.

Plepler formerly owned a limestone mansion at 151 East 72nd Street, which he listed for $16.5 million in 2012. [NYP] — Mark Maurer
