WEEKENDEDITION The mogul behind Crown Group Hospitality is bringing a new celebrity-friendly lounge to the rooftop of Hotel Hugo at 525 Greenwich Street.

Crown’s managing partner Sean Largotta, who runs hot New York restaurants including Crown, the Lion and Bill’s Food & Drink, told the New York Post that Bar Hugo will be available for private events in April and will officially open in May.

The 122-key Hotel Hugo is being developed by Fortuna Realty Group’s Morris Moinian, in partnership with developer Matthew Moinian, and is also set to open in April.

“We saw it three or four years ago at the Lion,” Largotta said. “Our customer base had no place to go after dinner. I haven’t been to many places where it’s a sprinkle of art and fashion and a 35-and-over crowd and media people that wasn’t a fashion party. That’s what was missing.”

The two-story, 6,000-square-foot space hopes to be an alternative to strobe-light-and-bottle-service clubs, while offering unobstructed downtown and Hudson River views. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
