Durst Organization launches Westside ferry

The service begins Monday and is free for the first week

WEEKENDEDITION Cheaper and more charming than a yellow cab, the Durst Organization is debuting New York Water Taxi’s Westside ferry service.

Starting Monday, the service will run down the Hudson from Pier 84 off West 44th Street to the World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan for just $8 – except for the first week when rides are free, according to the New York Observer.

The Durst Organization is attempting to fill a transit void on the Far West side, a spokesperson with Durst said. And the need for transportation on the Far West side will only increase after the completion of Hudson Yards. [NYO] – Christopher Cameron
