The co-chairman of Brookfield Office Properties told the New York Post that he wants to See 3 World Trade Center built soon. Although this will create competition for his own complex at the location, John Zuccotti argues that the development of 3 World Trade Center Would Add Street retail to the area that will make the entire development a success.

“I certainly support long-term development of the World Trade Center site,” Zuccotti told the New York Post. “I know that 3 World Trade doesn’t finish it, but it’s a major step forward and a necessary step.”

Zuccotti didn’t comment on the ongoing negotiations between Larry Silverstein and the Port Authority about how to finance the project.

A completed World Trade Center would benefit Zuccotti’s own Brookfield Place at the former World Financial Center, he also told the Post. More than 1 million square feet is still available at that location. [NYP] – Claire Moses
