The boyhood home of rocker Lenny Kravitz, a small wood-frame house at 368 Throop Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant, will soon give way to a new six-unit apartment building.
The property will not technically be demolished, but the plans call for a third story addition, which will tack on extensions to the two-family property’s front and rear.
Built sometime between 1850 and 1880, according to Brownstoner, the home belonged to Al and Bessie Rocker, parents to Roxie Roker, who played Helen Willis on the sitcom “The Jeffersons.” Roker, Kravitz’ mother, lived in the house until the family moved to Los Angeles in 1974. The senior Rokers sold the property in 1987, according to city records. [Brownstoner] — Julie Strickland
