400 Fifth Avenue

The Bizzi & Partners-developed, Gwathmey Siegel-designed 400 Fifth Avenue is noted for its jagged windows and massive steel crown. With the Setai Hotel taking up the bottom 30 floors of the 57-story building, the nearly 190 residential units begin on the 31st floor. The building was one of architect Charles Gwathmey’s last projects before his death in 2009, and its creation is the subject of a book by architectural photographer Evan Joseph. Asking prices for the 9 residences available at press time begin at $1.14 million for a 464-square-foot studio. A penthouse measuring over 3,000 square feet, is asking 12.2 million. The building has linen and turndown service, and on-call doctors, dentists and pharmacists. Contact www.400fifthavenue.com or 212-736-3500.
