One 57 at 157 West 57th Street

157 West 57th Street 1
One57, Extell Development’s 90-story condo and hotel project, has made headlines for its speedy sales and record-setting prices. Six months after sales began in November 2011, half of the 94 condos were spoken for. Multiple apartments at the already legendary building are reportedly in contract for upwards of $90 million. Notably, during Hurricane Sandy, the One57 construction site was the location of a crane collapse; the incident caused an evacuation of the immediate area and the crane’s dangling boom became one of the enduring images of the storm. As of early July, prices for officially listed units ranged from $6 million for a 1,000-square-foot one-bedroom to $41 million for a 4,483-square-foot three-bedroom. The ultra-luxury building was designed by Christian de Portzamparc, with interiors by Thomas Juul-Hansen. Amenities are plentiful, and include a doorman, a concierge, a gym and a swimming pool. A Park Hyatt will occupy the lower 25 floors. Contact www.one57.com or 212-570-1700.
