American Idol creator sells Plaza apartments for $38M

Simon Fuller, the founder of “American Idol,” sold two Plaza Hotel apartments in an off-market transaction for $38 million.

The billionaire and former manager of the Spice Girls bought units 901 and  903 for $19 million in 2007, according to the New York Post. He combined the two units into a sprawling 4,641-square-foot four-bedroom apartment. In 2013, Fuller also bought unit 902 — a 1,155-square-foot one-bedroom unit adjacent to the other two — for $3.25 million.

Fuller’s combined unit made up of apartments 901 and 903 fetched $33.2 million and 902 went for $4.8 million. Corcoran’s Charlie Attias represented the anonymous buyer.

Fellow Plaza resident, Sony Music Entertainment chief Doug Morris, is also looking to sell his unit and is asking $11.5 million. [NYP] — Claire Moses
