Pie Face, the Australian purveyor of sweet as well as savory pies, closed six of its seven New York City locations.

The chain closed its Union Square, Chelsea, Murray Hill and Midtown stores. The eatery’s Hell’s Kitchen location at West 36th Street and Ninth Avenue will stay open.

At the locations that closed, most of the interiors of the stores remained intact as of Thursday morning, according to DNAinfo. The Seventh Avenue and West 35th Street outpost was gutted, the website reported.

The people behind Pie Face should be locked up!!! They have left a trail of financial destruction in Australia with Franchisees losing the lot. The Australian Government needs to seriously look at Franchising in Australia to protect consumers from business models that simply DO NOT WORK. Let me say – that if it won’t work in one of the most populated cities in the world . . . it ain’t working in Australian cities . . .
