Jim Parsons, the actor best known as Sheldon Cooper from “the Big Bang Theory” has bought a $2.8 million penthouse at 36 Gramercy Park East, according to property records filed with the city today. Parsons bought the unit together with his boyfriend Todd Spiewak.
They also closed on a unit for $815,000, according to city records.
Nest Seekers International is the exclusive marketing and sales agent on the property.
The pair bought a two-bedroom unit on the 12th floor of the building for 1.8 million in 2011 at a heavy discount. A year later, they bought another apartment on same floor for $2.8 million. In total, Parsons and Spiewak own four units in the building.
Parsons, who is the voice of Buddy in tonight’s NBC Chrismas special: “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas,” and Spiewak purchased the 665-square-foot sponsor unit in the landmarked 12-story building facing Gramercy Park. Mann Realty Associates developed the building. Residents of the building get access to the private park.
