Bronx’s City Island named 2014’s “Neighborhood of the Year”
The quiet Bronx enclave of City Island has been named New York City’s 2014 “Neighborhood of the Year” by Curbed.
City Island supporters received 1,135 votes, compared to the 989 runner-up Long Island City tallied, according to the New York Daily News.
The real estate blog’s “just-for-fun” poll pitted 16 New York neighborhoods pitted against one another in the tournament-style series.
In 2013, Curbed readers picked St. George, Staten Island, spurring a party dubbed the Rabid Beaver Community Bash.
“We’re very excited and couldn’t be more taken away with winning a contest that means absolutely nothing,” said City Island Civic Association member John Doyle. “If the end result is renewed interest and investment in the community, that would be a very positive result.” [NYDN] via [Curbed]– Christopher Cameron
