Ziel Feldman’s HFZ plans hotel-condo tower on Chelsea site
Developer says project will be inspired by One Beacon Court
Ziel Feldman’s HFZ Capital Group plans to build an 800,000-square-foot West Chelsea mixed-use tower in the vein of One Beacon Court. The developer is in contract to pay a whopping $800 million-plus for the block-long site at 518 West 18th Street, as The Real Deal first reported in November.
The tower could rise as high as 400 feet and will be “architecturally significant,” Feldman told the New York Daily News. There will be ground-floor retail, a brand-name hotel in the middle and condominiums above it, he said.
Feldman said One Beacon, the 55-story, Cesar Pelli-designed mixed-use building at 151 East 58th Street, will inspire the design. The new tower would have a similar courtyard. [NYDN] — Mark Maurer
