Back in 2013, then-mayor Michael Bloomberg announced affordable housing in the form of prefabricated micro-units would rise at 335 East 27th Street. Now that project is finally coming together and it’s worth watching.
Eric Bunge’s firm nARCHITECTS designed Monadnock Development’s 55-unit micro-apartment building My Micro NY. The project, located at at 335 East 27th Street in Kips Bay, has been renamed Carmel Place and it is currently under construction, according to Treehugger.com
The units average 286 square feet, but come with 10-foot ceilings and large windows.
“These units can actually feel very spacious,” Bunge told The Real Deal in a recent interview.
