Adidas plans to bring a design studio to 118 North 11th Street in Williamsburg, on top of the famous Brooklyn Brewery.
The German sports apparel company signed a lease for 20,000 square feet. The building is owned by landlord Solomon Jacobowitz.
The space will serve as a creative office, Crain’s reported, with Adidas hoping to revive its hip image after Under Armour overtook it to become the world’s second-largest sports apparel brand, after Nike. Adidas announced its plans for a Brooklyn office last year, and Nike sued, claiming that its rival poached three executives to lead the new venture.
Asking rents in the building are in the $70s per square foot, according to Crain’s.
Jacobowitz purchased the building along with four others in 2011 for $16.4 million. Brooklyn Brewery is a longtime tenant. [Crain’s] — Tess Hofmann
