The taller NYC’s skyscrapers rise and the more architecturally significant they become, the harder and more dangerous they are to keep clean. At least that’s what Manhattan’s window washers say.

In January, a Brooklyn window washer received an $8 million settlement after falling four stories from the Council on Foreign Relations’ landmarked building on the Upper East Side. And while window-washing accidents remain rare, the city’s obsession with all glass towers has made the job somewhat riskier.
