Belgium was rocked early this morning by a series of terrorist attacks in its capital city of Brussels, with at least 30 dead and hundreds more injured.

New York City is on high alert following the attack, with increased security at airports and transit hubs throughout the city.

Bernard Kerik, who served as New York City’s police commissioner during the Sept. 11 attacks, recently told The Real Deal why he thinks the city, despite near-constant threats of terrorism, is well-positioned to prevent a future attack.
