The 38-year-old who posed as a relative of fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg to lease a Soho penthouse is now allegedly threatening neighbors with a gun.
Landlord Thor Equities is trying to evict Corey “von Furstenberg,” whose real last name is Mayer, over threats and some drunken escapades, which include loudly pulling himself up the building’s fire escape, according to a lawsuit filed by Thor. The landlord has accused Mayer of telling two residents that he has a gun in his apartment, the New York Post reported.
The tenant has been a thorn in Thor’s side for some time now. He allegedly talked his way into the $15,000-a-month penthouse at 496 Broadway in Soho, known as the “Apiary Lofts,” by convincing the landlord that he was related to fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg.
Thor lobbed a lawsuit at the man in January after he fell woefully behind in his rent. Mayer owes $180,000, according to the lawsuit. An eviction hearing is slated for June. In January, Mayer’s sister told the tabloids that he was a “fraudster” with a violent past.[NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
