The transit authority will cover their rent, pay for residents’ moving expenses and provide 24-hour security to empty homes during the construction, DNAinfo reported.
Earlier this year, residents alone the stretch of the elevated M train learned that work would stretch for six to 10 months, and that some residents would need to relocate beginning in July 2017.
Early on, some residents fought the work – and relocation – before learning how badly the renovation is needed. Low vibration tracks are also being installed.
