A building superintendent was sentenced to 25 years in prison Thursday for killing a tenant following a rent dispute.

Nasean Bonie, 30, was sentenced for killing Ramona Moore, a 35-year-old tenant of 663 Jefferson Place in Claremont section of the Bronx, the New York Daily News reported. Moore went missing in July 2012, following an argument with Bonie over rent in the building. During the month-long trial, a neighbor testified that he saw Bonie drag a trash bin to his car the night Moore went missing. Her body remained missing until April 2014,  when officials found her fractured skull in Orange County, near where Bonie has relatives.

Bonie was convicted of manslaughter in July, which carried a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Bonie has maintained his innocence, saying before being sentenced that his life has been “taken by the NYPD.” Moore’s sister, Nicole Moore, also spoke at the sentencing.

“You are a menace to society and you should never be able to see the light of day again,” she said. [NYDN]Kathryn Brenzel
