It may be tricky to keep up with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on this one — unless you can convince Airbnb to let you rent a $25 million penthouse for free.
The power couple just snagged a 7,000-square-foot triplex at 471 Washington Street, where they will be staying through late October for New York Fashion Week and West’s show at Madison Square Garden next month, Page Six reported. Airbnb provided the five-bedroom penthouse to Kardashian and West free of charge.
Page Six previously reported that they planned to compensate the owners by promoting the triplex on Instagram, though it’s not clear if that’s part of the agreement.
The penthouse is owned by hedge fund manager Harsh Padia, who put the unit on the market in September for $30 million. Douglas Elliman’s [TRDataCustom] Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes have the listing, which now has an asking price of $24.5 million.
Before securing the Tribeca penthouse, the celebrity couple reportedly also looked at a $28.5 million penthouse at 10 Sullivan Street and a $29.9 million penthouse of 35 North Moore Street. Kardashian took to social media to thank Airbnb for the complimentary digs, which is pretty common among celebs these days, as The Real Deal reported last week.
Airbnb is currently fending off a proposed bill that is seeking to slap fines on rentals of less than 30 days. The state legislature passed the bill in June, but the governor has yet to sign it into law. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
