Dubai plans massive $20B development

The project will add thousands of residential units

A development firm controlled by Dubai’s ruler announced plans today for a massive mixed-use development, creating thousands of new homes and hotel rooms.

Dubai Holding, the developer, unveiled “Jumeriah Central” and announced that construction will begin next year along the city’s main artery, Sheikh Zayed Road, according to US News & World Report. The project will rise across from the Mall of the Emirates – known for its indoor ski slope.

Plans call for 11,000 residential units, three shopping malls and several hotels, offices and entertainment. [US News] –Christopher Cameron
