Fine art and architecture have always informed one another. So if you are an artist looking for an artistic home look no further. New York City-based Steven Holl Architects has designed just the place for you.

Steven Holl Architects created this small house that’s big on style upstate in Rhinebeck, according to Curbed.

The three-level, 918-square-foot house is called “the Ex of In House,” and was completed this summer. It was part of the firm’s research and development program and its unusual shape was meant to be a rejoinder to the McMansion, according to the firm.

It boasts a geothermal system, solar energy and wood-paneled interiors. However, it notably lacks one common conveince: bedrooms.

That being said, it can sleep five. Is that avant garde enough for you? [Curbed]Christopher Cameron
