Trump Tower changed to Dump Tower on Google Maps

The president-elect’s famous residence was rechristened yesterday

If for some reason you were searching for Trump Tower on Google yesterday, you might have found an amusing or angering result (depending on your politics). Starting yesterday afternoon Trump Tower was changed to Dump Tower on Google Maps.

Users began noticing that the Fifth Avenue building’s name had been change on Google Saturday afternoon, according to Pix11. It’s unclear who made the change or precisely when it occurred, but screen shots began appearing on Twitter around 2 p.m.

The building’s description was also changed to “a 58-story mixed-used skyscraper.”

By Saturday evening Trump International Hotel & Tower [TRDataCustom] in Columbus Circle had also been renamed Dump International Hotel & Tower.

A spokesperson from Google Maps told PIX11 that the name has since been change back from dump to Trump.

“Some inappropriate names were surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologize for any offense this may have caused. Our teams immediately took action and have fixed the issue,” the spokesperson said. [Pix11] Christopher Cameron
