Brooklyn Borough president Marty Markowitz wants to demolish the Brooklyn House of Detention on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill and sell most of the lot it’s on for development. Under Markowitz’s plan, unveiled Tuesday, the proceeds from selling about three-fourths of the lot would then be used to build a smaller, more efficient jail near the back of the lot. more [Sun]
