High-concept playground design

Architect David Rockwell has designed a $2 million playground to be built near the South Street Seaport that will have water, ramps, sand and “play workers,” or adults whose job is to help kids navigate the space’s features. The design is based on theories of child development that emphasize social and imaginative play rather than just physical activity. more [NYT]
