More young, affluent buyers are acquiring single- and multi-family homes in North Crown Heights, where brownstones can sell for under $1 million, but retailers and restaurants have been slow to set up shop there. Buyers priced out of Park Slope, where single-family homes cost upwards of $2 million, can find relative bargains in the neighborhood, though the area lacks basic services such as a bank branch, health club or pharmacy. Rents for retail space on Nostrand Avenue are as low as $25 per square foot.
