Brookfield’s Hudson Yards plan gains fans

Brookfield Properties’ bid for the West Side rail yards development has reportedly gained some public support, even though its design violates the guidelines established by the city and the MTA. The point of contention is the plan for buildings to line either side of 11th Avenue between 30th and 33rd Streets. The MTA and the city instead called for parkland to minimize construction over train lines. Some New Yorkers say Brookfield’s design looks most like the rest of Manhattan. The MTA said it will select a developer based on three criteria: design, the amount of money offered and the feasibility of construction.
